Strabismus (Crossed Eyes)

Crossed eyes or wandering eyes are known as strabismus, where a patient cannot align both eyes simultaneously during regular daily activities. The common result is where one eye will seem to be “locked on” to the object of focus, while the other eye will be turned in, out, up or down in relation to the focusing eye.

Patients suffering from strabismus have reduced binocular vision and depth perception, and can have issues with orientation of their visual space. This disorientation can cause other symptoms such as vertigo or double vision. Strabismus is a serious eye condition that requires treatment, such as Neuro Visual Training. If left untreated, the turning eye can lose vision in a condition called amblyopia. This condition does not disappear on its own, and children will not outgrow it.
